Dear Friend,
Re: Genomic Sequencing in the Monaghan Room of the Mater Hospital
We need your help – over the last 3 years we’ve been fundraising to make Genomic Sequencing or Gene Testing available to the people of Ireland. Ireland is one of only a few countries in Europe not to have this life saving equipment. It will change the lives of people living with inherited genetic conditions and their families. We all know family members, business acquaintances and employees who have had their lives changed dramatically or lost their lives due to conditions such as cancer, cardiac, diabetes etc. Unfortunately, many of these conditions are inherited and we don’t know about them until it’s too late.
What about the children and their children’s children? Having gene testing available in Ireland will mean that family members will be tested and given precision diagnosis and treatment. With your help, we can fulfil Oliver Brady’s promise of having the equipment in place for the people of Ireland by the 16th September. This date is the 3rd Anniversary of Olivers passing. The equipment value for Phase 1 is €750,000 and after 3 years of fund raising and generous donations we’re down to the last €85,000 with just under 30 days to go!
Monaghan Lions Club & Carrickmacross Lions Club have kindly rowed in behind us and work on the same principle of every cent raised goes directly to the charity, we are all volunteers.
How can you help to raise the final €85,000? You can make a big difference by doing any of the following:
- Making a company donation of €100 or value of your choice
- Host a #MeAndMyGenes” day on the 6th October with each employee donating €5
Your team can also help by raising awareness of the Genomic Sequencing equipment by giving our social media a “Like”, “Share” and “tweet”. We’re also encouraging families affected by an inherited genetic condition to do a 30 second video clip and share it on social media. There’s much more information available on our website:
www.shabracharity.com.
Your businesses support really will change and save lives, and that is immeasurable.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
Yours sincerely
